About Us

Star Academy offers primary and intermediate students in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through fifth grade a rigorous, supportive and student centered educational program.  We opened our doors in August 2010 with 2 kindergarten classes.  This year, we offer two Transitional Kindergarten (Jr. K) classes as a part of a 2-year kindergarten program, and two First and Second Grades with 26 students in each class. Kindergarten consists of one early and one late class.  This school year we added both fourth and fifth grades. Dedicated teachers provide innovative, hands-on learning experiences in a nurturing environment, which encourage creativity and explorations.

By utilizing multi-faceted approaches, real-world examples, technology, and inquiry-based learning, our vision is to develop well-rounded individuals of character who possess strong critical thinking and problem solving skills to become global citizens and lifelong learners.

Star Academy's Key Components

Moderate Class Size
Differentiated, small group instruction provides an opportunity to meet individual needs in a maximum class size of 26 students. Enrollment in our Transitional Kindergarten class is currently 22. In 2014-15 we will have a maximum of 18 students in two TK classes.

Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten

Students will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2014, may register for Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten. Children who will turn five years old between September 2 and December 2, 2014, are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten. Children who will turn five years
old between December 3, 2014 and March 1, 2015 are eligible to be placed on a waiting list for Transitional Kindergarten and will not be eligible to attend school until they are 5 years of age. Transitional Kindergarten offers a developmentally appropriate, hands-on approach as part of a two year Kindergarten program.

Academic Instruction
At Star Academy, academic literacy is the main thread that is woven through each discipline.  Core subjects of math, science, social sciences and English/language arts will be supported through a hands-on, inquiry-based approach.  The Transitional Kindergarten implements a developmentally appropriate, two-year kindergarten curriculum.

Spanish Instruction
All students in grades K-5 will have Spanish instruction as part of their academic program.

High Standards
Motivated students are expected to enter Star Academy with an attitude and desire to succeed within our high standards of self-discipline in academics, behavior, and attendance.

Parent Involvement
Each family is required to commit 30 hours per school year that contributes to the well-being of all students attending Star Academy.
